Behind the Scenes: How We Stamp Our Logo at Home (without the machine)

At J. Strauss, we believe in adding personal touches to everything we make—even down to the logo.

While many brands outsource every step of their production, we chose to keep some things in-house. One of them? Heat stamping our brass logo by hand, right from home. Not just for aesthetics—but because we care about how each bag is finished.

Here’s how we do it:

We use just a few tools:

1. Blow torch

2. Gas Refill

3. Our signature brass logo stamp

4. Heat gloves (very important!)

The brass stamp is heated for about 30–50 seconds using the torch. Timing is everything—too hot and it might burn through the leather, too cold and the imprint won’t last. Once heated, we let it cool slightly before testing on a scrap of vegan leather.

Pro tip: Always test first. It's a small step that could save your actual bag from getting ruined.

Once the stamp leaves a clean, non-sticky imprint at the right depth, it’s ready to be pressed onto the bag. We pre-measure each style to make sure the placement is consistent across all pieces.

And just like that—logo sealed.

Why we still do this manually:

It’s time-consuming, but it keeps us connected to the craft. And in a world of fast production, we think slowing down and doing things with care still matters.
